One word to sum up the last week…busy.
Here’s the quick version…
Thursday = Fly to LAX
Friday = Time at beach and groom’s dinner.
Saturday = Mike and Katie’s wedding.
Sunday = Fly back to MSP and finish packing.
Monday = Final packing, sell a house, buy a house, pick up moving truck, load moving truck.
Tuesday = Unload moving truck, start unpacking.
Wednesday = Work, then RCC choir rehearsal.
Thursday = Work, then bible study.
That’s pretty much it. We’ve been busy. So far, I don’t feel like I’ve had any time to get settled in the new place. Hopefully that’ll change soon. This weekend should afford us some good time to get settled.
Here are a few pictures from our weekend in Los Angeles.

I recieved in the mail today a copy of “Behind the Music” by The Soundtrack of our Lives. What a great CD. I’ve been enjoying these guys for about a year now on Radio Paradise, and they finally made it to the top of my amazon wish list :-)
I should have one more CD coming this week…can’t wait.

So I’m sitting at the computer, minding my own business and I hear a siren. This isn’t very out of the ordinary, as we live about 30 yards from Dale Street, which is an emergency route. However…this time, the siren seemed unusually loud, so I decided to get up and see what the deal was. Well what I saw were three fire trucks driving down the alley, right next to my house! I looked outside and saw a large plume of dark smoke. Headed outside to see that the garage of one of the rental houses in the alley was burning. You can see pictures here.
The car in one of the pictures is an older model Mercedes and the SPFD pulled it out of the garage.
Bummer.

Went to Nevada Bob’s today during lunch, and with the help of Mr. Mitchell, I picked out a shiny new putter, so now I’m all set.
I recieved my new George Winston CDs today, and I’m enjoying them. Yeah yeah – feel free to give me grief for listening to him, but sometimes I’m a sucker for acoustic piano, and for some reason, GW’s music is able to elicit a very emotional response from me this time of year. My parents used to play his CDs (or tapes I guess…) around the house while I was growing up, so there’s quite a bit of nostaglia there.

Had a great time tonight…got together with our 20’s group from church for a pizza-making party to kick off the season. Lots of good fellowship, and there was plenty of geek talk due to the high geek quotient in the group ;-). Joel, Tim, and I scheduled a driving range date on Saturday to test out my new clubs. We’ll see how they perform….or….I guess how I’ll perform is more accurate. I’m sure the clubs will pull their own weight :-)
Tomorrow and Monday, Dan’s out, so I’ll get to hold down the fort at work alone. Hopefully nothing will blow up too bad, although I’m not holding my breath, as it seems that one or both of us are usually out of the office when something breaks. The most recent occurrance of that was last Friday when Dan brought me out for a birthday lunch at Krazmarczuks (sp?). When we got back, we discovered that our internet drop had completely tanked about five minutes before we left. At first glance, it appeared that our router was FUBAR, but we eventually discovered that it was a Time Warner issue. They supposedly had an “equipment failure” in their Minnetonka datacenter. Oh well – the problem was resolved quickly…I just hope that it doesn’t happen again tomorrow!
In other work news, I’m going to attempt to get Exchange 2003 installed successfully tomorrow at work. We have tried this several times in the past and have been unsuccessful. Yesterday, I recieved a very (potentially) helpful tip from Tim Miller’s boss about removing the old Active Directory schema entries that were left from the previous installation attempts. After he mentioned that, it made complete sense to me why the server was getting confused. So hopefully I’ll have good luck tomorrow and I won’t manage to wipe out the whole AD schema in the process.
