wardriving

October 7th, 2004 No comments

See this article.

It seems that residents of Scottsdale, AZ are quite concerned about “rebellious computer hackers” wardriving. Oh come on…puhlease. Perhaps instead of going after these would-be “hackers”, they should educate the residents about securing their access points. The problem here is not the wardrivers. Oh, and it looks like the Scottsdale PD has recieved enough complaints that they’re going to create a cyber crimes division next year. Yeah, that’d be great.

Just my $.02.

moving is exhausting

Or maybe it’s more accurate to say that unpacking/organizing/etc is exhausting. I went to sleep at 8:30 last night.

That is all.

Lavaplatos…

October 4th, 2004 No comments

…is spanish for “dishwasher”.

I spent what seems to be the entire weekend getting a dishwasher installed at our new place. It involved no less than 5 trips to Menards and 3 trips to Ace. Also, it involved me laying on the kitchen floor in rather contorted positions for the majority of the weekend. All in all, the dishwasher is working now, which is really good. Call me spoiled, but I was getting frustrated after only 3 days without a dishwasher. One interesting discovery that I made in the process was that there was previously a dishwasher in the kitchen…and there was already electric wiring from the previous installation. This was all well and good except for the fact that the previous owner (or whomever removed the old dishwasher) left the live bare wires hanging behind the cabinet. So who knows how many years those wires have been live back there. Seems a bit careless, huh?

In other news, I purchased a used snowblower this weekend, which I’m very happy about, being that I have about 15 times as much driveway now as I had at the old place. Literally. It’s sad to say, but I’m looking forward to the first snowfall so I can try it out.
