Herein lies the problem
So it’s stinkin’ January 18th, and all we have is a piddly inch and a half of snow. Click “more…” to see why.
From December 6th:

From today, January 18th:

This has been the story of the winter. Fer the love, could it at least snow *once* this winter so I can try out my snowblower?
Hehe… that top radar image says it all. I’m curious to see how the 80% chance of percipitation amounting to 1-3″ of snow as tonight’s forecast will actually pan out. For every day this week, NOAA has “chance of snow” or “snow likely”, but time will only tell. If these rumors of snow do not materialize, you can always initiate a simulation for your snowblower. Go out and buy instant potato flakes in bulk, dump them all over your driveway, and see how well your new snow remover does. Just hope it doesn’t rain after dumping the flakes on the ground… that would just be messy.
Hrm – yeah I think I’ll just go ahead and wait for some real, bonafide snow.
At this point, I’m hoping for no snow the rest of the year, for two reasons: my snowblower (tractor, actually) is broke (need to replace a belt) and I’d rather fix it in the spring, and if there’s no snow, it may mean motorcycle season is coming sooner. :-)
Those radar images are incredible. (By the way..didn’t work on firefox for me)
I was listening to MPR on the ride into work today and it hit me… the problem here is that we don’t have a huge body of water close enough to us. If we did, there’s two words that would solve this lack of snow: lake effect.
