For those of you who know me, you know that I’m a huge fan of The Bad Plus. They’re a dynamite jazz trio, homegrown here in the cities. Well I’m on their email list, and I recieved an announcement last week that they would be releasing a new live CD called “Blunt Object” in the first week of April, but that they were taking pre-orders for it. So like a good little TBP fan, I went over to the Sony music store and placed my pre-order. Well much to my surprise, the CD showed up in my mailbox at work today. I was blown away. It wasn’t supposed to ship until the first week of April. Makes a guy wonder if someone at Sony pulled the trigger a bit early. Anyways, I’ve been really enjoying the cd - as I said it’s live, and it was recorded during their tour last year while they were in Tokyo.
