Incredible Photography Resource

Ken Rockwell has an absolutely incredible page for information on digicams, photography in general, photo equipment, reviews, etc. It has proved invaluable as I’ve evaulated different cameras. Here’s a list of a few great articles he’s posted:

Hmm, I have to say this guy seems to have an agenda… Anything but SLRs are pieces of crap, # of megapixels makes absolutely no difference… And he says it all very smugly.

It may be true that on the overall spectrum there’s not as much of a difference, but to say the above statements and maintain credibility seems a bit ludicrous to me. The 4-5MP cameras I’ve seen are all significantly better than the 2 and 1 MP cameras I’ve seen (and all were in the same price category at their respective arrival times on the market; in fact, mine was a bit more expensive 2MP, and even cheap 4MPs I’ve seen are much better).

Note that I only read the bottom two (as they seemed the most controversial) :)

Yah – I guess I understand where you’re coming from. But also, you gotta understand his audience. He’s not writing to the casual photographer who is looking to spend

Yeah, I read his page called “About These Reviews”, and it basically cleared the matter up for me. He’s not intending to be giving professional advice (which is what I thought) – he’s just giving his own opinion, and even quotes Ansel Adams as saying, “this site is my ‘aggressive personal opinion,’ and not a ‘logical presentation of fact.’”

That’s all I needed to confirm my personal dismissal of his site (purely as a non-SLR user; I’m sure he has great insight if you like the same things he does). ;-)
