EVDO update
I received the EVDO card today from Sprint, and I’ve been working (over VPN) on it for the last hour or so. I’m quite impressed. The bandwidth I’m seeing matches right up with what I expected – 500-650 down and 80-100 up. Not bad. Makes working from the ‘bou all the less frustrating :-)
Is there a hefty subscription for the service? Or are you fortunate to have work pick up the tab? :)
I’d love something like that, but it’d have to have very good coverage, as that’s a main benefit to its use.
They’re currently running a promotion – $60/month for unlimited data. This is on work’s dime. We like to keep a few of these cards around for employees to reserve and check out for use on business trips and such.
Currently, they only have EVDO coverage turned on in the central corridor area of the metro. They’ll be expanding soon though, into the entire light yellow areas.
