my hobbit name…

October 19th, 2005 Leave a comment Go to comments

I always thought life as a hobbit would be quite enjoyable. From the bits and pieces we get to see of their lives through the LOTR series, it seems as though they get to sit around for 90% of their days eating good food, drinking good drink, and smoking the southfarthing’s best pipeweed[1]. Doesn’t seem that bad of a life, huh?

Anyway, according to this website, if I were a hobbit, my name would be “Fastolph Knotwise of Michel Delving”.

Interesting to say the least.

[1] …except for that whole “scouring of the shire” thing. That must have been a bummer.

Cool Site. Say hello to Olo Brandybuck of Buckland :-)

We must be related, Joel. I’m Rosie-Posie Brandybuck of Buckland. I think I might drop the “Posie” part, though. Just seems excessive. ;-)

Say hello to Olo Brandybuck of Buckland

    Umm…hello?

Greetings to you, Fastolph, Olo, and Rosie.

    Sincerely,

This is, by far, the most nerdy thread that has ever been on my blog….by no no fault of my own, for sure.

    ehem.

Oh, and all that techno-garble about servers and connectors and whatnot isn’t nerdy?!

  9. October 19th, 2005 at 17:04 | #9

    I don’t think so ;-)

I really shouldn’t have found it surprising that Erik and I both hail from Michel Delving, but I did. Though I really don’t like my Hobbit name of Dimple Knotwise, so I would like to be known by my elvish name: Fëanáro Ancalimë.

I’d just like to say that Meghan’s hobbit name is “Esmerelda Knotwise of Michel Delving”.

    Heh. Esmerelda.

  12. October 19th, 2005 at 22:55 | #12

Esmerelda, I love it. Mine’s Marigold Deepdelver of Brockenborings, which is pretty cool. But I always had a connection with the elvish world and my elvish name really is beautiful: Alatáriël Narmolanya . Don’t you think?

  13. October 19th, 2005 at 23:03 | #13

Alatáriël Narmolanya huh? Quite nice. Especially if you imagine Liv Tyler saying that name in her low, sultry, seemingly barbiturate-induced voice.

  14. October 20th, 2005 at 11:15 | #14

What are you implying, Erik? ;-)

  15. October 20th, 2005 at 11:19 | #15

Oh nothing…with the voice she uses, though, it just always sounds like she’s on downers :-)

  16. October 20th, 2005 at 13:33 | #16

My Elvish name is Lúthien of Dorthonion. Can’t go too wrong with Lúthien ;-).

If only Liv Tyler didn’t have such a gratingly obnoxious voice the rest of the time when she’s not sounding like she’s on drugs. *cringes*

I’m related to Joel and Andrea, too. I’m Ruby Brandybuck of Buckland.

I lose at Hobbit names: Ruby Proudfoot.
