Summer colds

I came down with a cold this week. In the middle of July. Very rude.

For some reason, I don’t mind getting colds in the winter all that much - it’s cool enough that you can drink hot tea (or hot Tang. Yes, hot Tang - try it sometime. It’s awesome) to your heart’s content to soothe the throat and ease achey bones. Not so much in the summer. I drank one cup of hot Tang today and it heated me up so much that I started sweating profusely halfway through. No fun.

Today was the second day of the cold - I worked from home. Hopefully day three, after a good night’s sleep, will prove to be better.

andersonfam -> feedburner

All - I’m moving the RSS feed for the site over to feedburner. If you don’t know what this means, either feel free to ignore or go read up on Google Reader or another RSS reader of your liking. For everyone else, here’s the new feed location:

http://feeds.feedburner.com/andersonfam

Theoretically you should be automatically redirected from the old feed to the new, but if that doesn’t happen for some reason, you may need to manually change over to the new feed location.

Anger management…

This email was just sent out to everyone in our office at work. Looks like I’m going to have to find another means of releasing my pent-up angst :-)

To All,
During discussions with building management today I was notified that the building has recently suffered a rash of broken toilet handles in the men’s bathrooms. This has occurred on all floors. In addition to leaving an already limited resource even more scarce, these handles cost time and money to replace.
Flushing the toilet is a socially encouraged behavior; but please do so without damaging the toilet.

That last sentence is pure gold.

Fireworks at Lake Florida

Last night, one of my parents’ neighbors treated our side of the lake to a private fireworks display. Since I’d never really made an honest effort in the past to take fireworks photos, I figured this was a good chance to give it a try. I’m pretty happy with the results:

Fireworks 1

Fireworks 2

Fireworks 3

The rest are here if you’re interested.

Michael Manring + Hyperbass

Michael Manring. Ever heard of him? Check this video - he plays a Zon Hyperbass. This isn’t your normal bass guitar. The hyperbass has a cam/lever system on the four tuning mechanisms in the headstock that allow the player to flip a lever mid-song and drop that string’s tuning anywhere from a half step to a fifth. There’s also a de-tuning mechanism in the bridge that allows the bassist to change the strings’ tunings from that end of the guitar as well.

Enjoy.
