…of DRMed digital music distribution.

In case you haven’t already heard, Apple announced today that they will start distributing EMI’s collection sans DRM.  This is really great news.  Until now, I’ve completely avoided purchasing music from the iTMS due to the DRM restrictions they impose.  Yes, you *could* do the burn/re-rip dance to get rid of the DRM, but then the music has to go through two rounds of lossy compression, thereby reducing its quality below my threshold of acceptability.  Going forward, though, I’ll surely consider purchasing EMI records from the iTMS.
